If any of these statements do not align with your goals, we want to help you find a practitioner better suited to your needs. Please refer to our ‘Trusted Colleagues’ section of our website for search engines to find trusted practitioners

As an integrative practice, we operate differently from conventional veterinary practices:

We are a holistically-focused practice dedicated to providing innovative care while educating our clients on a holistic approach to healing. We empower our clients to take command of their pet’s health and wellness journey while shifting paradigms in conventional veterinary care. Outside of those cases that are diagnosed with oncologic disease, our practice routinely treats patients with other difficult or chronic conditions, as well as those seeking maximal health and wellness.

We are NOT a primary care facility. We do not offer vaccines or perform any large diagnostics, surgical procedures, and we do not have conventional medications on hand. We do NOT provide emergency appointments. As such, we strongly value working closely with your pet’s current team, and that is where our “integrative” approach comes into play.

Dr. Pope is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine with a speciality in Oncology (DACVIM, Oncology) and post doctorate advanced training as an integrative practitioner. Dr. Marino is also an integrative practitioner with a conventional veterinary background that has been in practice for over ten years. Our clients can feel confident that our doctors confer with each other on all cases to provide a collaborative approach to treat all of our patients. Both doctors may provide expert conventional care recommendations for your pet however, our practice focuses on Eastern and Integrative modalities. Our main methods of treatment include using the highest quality standard of herbs, supplements, nutraceuticals, and other clinically researched alternative therapies such as Intravenous Vitamin C (IVC) Therapy, Mistletoe Therapy, Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT) Therapy, Laser Therapy and Acupuncture. Our team also includes a massage therapist and chiropractor! Our doctors will also discuss integrative diet, and any other changes they feel may be beneficial to your pet’s care. We have many tools in the toolbox to help support our patients, depending on their unique needs.

Many of our patients are on several different supplements which may change overtime. Our doctors will also sometimes specially formulate herbs in the form of herbal granules or herbal tinctures, which will be uniquely formulated just for your pet’s needs.

Complex Consultations are 90 minutes in length and cost $690.
Routine Consultations are 60 minutes in length and cost $470.
Acupuncture Only Consultations are 60 minutes in length and cost $210.

If the doctor feels that acupuncture will benefit your pet, the acupuncture session is an additional $125.

We require a 50% non-refundable deposit for appointments at the time of scheduling which allows us to begin our research and preparation process for your pets case. If you must cancel or reschedule, the deposit is forfeit.

Please remember that integrative medicine takes time to build lasting effects, and the treatment will likely be a slow process. Holistic care is not a “quick fix “and is often not the best course of action for pets who are feeling extremely ill. It will be an involved process and will require time, energy, and resources on your part, depending on your pet’s unique situation.

We strongly recommend oncology patients to follow up with a traditional oncologist prior to seeing our doctors, so that you may gain more information regarding prognosis and best conventional treatment options for your pet. Because we are such a specialized practice, we realize that we are not the best fit for everyone. We like to make sure that we are the best fit for you and your pet, and if we are not, we want to help you figure out who is.

Your consultation is the first step in your pet’s wellness journey! Consultations can be overwhelming due to the amount of information covered. Please come prepared with questions and empowered to make decisions for your pet’s care.

Although the consultation will provide you with all the information you need to get started treating your pet’s condition, the real work starts once pet parents begin instituting the recommended protocols and returning for multiple in-practice treatments.
While we whole-heartedly understand inquiries regarding the success rate of our treatments, it is unfortunately not an easy question to answer. Each pet is unique, and even pets with the same diagnosis may have different underlying factors that are contributing to their current disease state. At the first consultation, the doctor will uncover what the pet’s best-case scenario is, and how we are going to work towards that goal. For example, there are some of our patients who were given very poor prognosis, came to our office for treatment, and are now still here with us and thriving 4-5 years later. On the flip side, there are other pets whose best-case scenario is for us to provide them with palliative care until the end of their life. Of course, we have scenarios that fall in between these two extremes. Whatever your pet’s best-case scenario is, we will help uncover that, and help work towards that goal.
Because we are such a specialized practice, we like to take the time to ask questions to be sure that we will be able to provide you with the care that aligns with your goals. If we are not the best fit for your pet’s care, we want to help you figure out who is. Often when the pet is not feeling well, not responding to conventional treatment, or declining rapidly, holistic treatment is not the best choice of treatment. If your pet is feeling well, is largely unaffected by their diagnosis, has a generally good quality of life, or is responding well to conventional treatment, integrative care could be a great option to help support your companion.
Sometimes, whether they are familiar with holistic treatment or not, pet parents are surprised by the level of involvement that this treatment requires. Holistic and integrative treatment can often be a very hands-on approach to care. We like to refer to our approach as a “healthcare journey” that you are going to be taking with your pet. It can require time, energy, and resources on the pet parents’ part. Many of our patients are on multi-level protocols, ranging from supplements, therapies, diet, and lifestyle changes. Oftentimes, our treatment is a trial-and-error process, and supplements will need to be changed or adjusted depending on your pet’s needs. Supplements are often given multiple times per day, and if the pet is picky, it may make administration a bit difficult. We have many tips and tricks to help with this, but sometimes it can still be a challenge on the owners’ part. We like to be sure that pet parents have a better idea of what to expect from our office, and what we expect of you as well. We expect our pet parents to be their pet’s biggest advocate! If this does not seem realistic for you, we completely understand, and we want to help you find the best fit for your pet’s care. We want to provide you with the information and tools necessary to make empowered decisions regarding your pet’s care, as we understand that this is an enormous commitment.
Not at all! We strongly recommend all new patients follow up with a traditional oncologist prior to coming to us. We understand that many pet parents feel strongly that they do not wish to pursue conventional medicine. Even in these instances, we still strongly recommend seeing a traditional oncologist first, so that you may gain more information regarding prognosis, and get started with any treatment that may be beneficial to start as soon as possible. We understand that time is of the essence with most of our patients, and we want your pet to get started with the care they need right away! We recognize the importance of conventional medicine and strive to work alongside our conventional colleagues. Our goal as an integrative practice is to complement and enhance conventional treatments, and fill in the gaps that western medicine often misses. Most of our patients are under the care of a conventional oncologist and undergoing conventional therapy such as chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Our goal with these patients is to keep them supported through their conventional treatment, minimize any adverse effects, help enhance the conventional treatment, and keep them supported and feeling well when they are finished with the treatment. With a combined approach to treatment, this is typically where we see the most positive results in our patients. Although we do strongly recommend seeing a traditional oncologist prior to your appointment with us, it is not necessary prior to scheduling. If you wish for integrative care to be your pet’s sole method of treatment, we can absolutely do so. The doctor will discuss the best options for your pet at the time of the consultation.
Dr. Pope sees patients on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and typically has a 4-8 week wait depending on volume of requests. Dr. Marino sees patients Tuesday-Friday and typically has a 2 week wait.
Absolutely! Our doctors take very detailed notes and will send them to all your pet’s veterinarians so that they are updated with her protocol and recommendations. We are happy to coordinate care with your pet’s primary veterinarian.
We do not work directly with pet insurance. Please check directly with your insurance company to see if they cover holistic and integrative care. We are happy to provide them with any documentation that they may need.
Herbal supplements usually take 4-6 weeks to show their full effect, however, initial responses may be seen in days to weeks. This timing is important to remember when making an appointment for your pet and determining expectations for response times.
We do not. However, we can write prescriptions for conventional medications. We are also able to send out blood work for vaccine titers in lieu of vaccines.
As we are a very small practice that focuses on herbal and alternative treatments, we do not perform large diagnostics such as x-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, etc. We also are unable to perform any surgical procedures. However, we can draw blood for laboratory diagnostics as well as cytology, which we send out to a lab for review.
No, we do not offer tele – advice consultations. All initial consultations are required to be completed in person at our facility. We do offer the option of tele – health follow up recheck appointments after your initial consultation via phone to accommodate our non local patients. To find additional resources who may be more local to you, please visit our website and review our trusted colleagues under our resource tab.
Our staff will ensure that your next recheck appointment is scheduled and you will receive an email with handouts on next steps, tips and guidelines. The doctor will email your pet’s Integrative Wellness Plan separately up to 48 hours after your consultation.

Integrative treatments are most effective when performed consistently over time. On average, 2-3 months are needed to initiate the treatment protocols, with ongoing follow-ups and in-practice treatments recommended consistently for 6-12months in typical patients. If this is not the type of approach you are looking for, we may suggest additional options to help support your pet.

After your pet has been seen for their first consultation, our Client Coordinator will no longer be directing your care. Please contact the front desk at732-268-8553 or [email protected].
