Samoyeds are the Arctic’s “smiling” sled dogs with a thick, double-layered white coat that kept them warm in temperatures as low as -60°F! ❄️ Their signature “smile” serves a practical purpose, preventing drool from forming icicles. Known for their agility, playful nature, and gentle demeanor, they make amazing companions, especially for families with kids and other dogs.
These pack animals require attention and training to avoid destructive behavior, and while they can thrive in warmer climates, be mindful of heat exhaustion!
Always offer water breaks and ensure they stay cool during hot weather.

Why Fur Balls Happen in Cats & How to Minimize Them! 🐱
Hairballs are a common—and sometimes frustrating—issue for cat owners. But why do they happen, and how can we reduce them? Let’s take a closer look! 👀
Why do cats get hairballs?
Cats are naturally clean animals and spend a lot of time grooming themselves. During this grooming process, they ingest loose fur. Most of the time, the hair passes through their digestive system, but sometimes it gets stuck, forming a hairball that they later cough up. This is especially common in long-haired breeds, but even short-haired cats can have hairballs from time to time.
Tips to Minimize Hairballs:
Regular Brushing: Brushing your cat regularly helps remove loose fur before they can swallow it. This is especially important for long-haired cats, but even short-haired cats benefit from regular grooming.
Healthy Diet: A high-quality, fiber-rich diet can help your cat digest hair more easily. Fiber can also help hair move through the digestive tract, reducing the likelihood of hairballs.
Hydration: Ensure your cat drinks plenty of water to keep their digestive system working smoothly. Wet food is also a great way to keep them hydrated.
Environmental Control: Keep your cat’s environment clean, and try to reduce stress or anxiety, which can increase grooming behavior.
When to Consult Your Vet:
If your cat is frequently coughing up hairballs or showing signs of discomfort, it could be a sign of something more serious, such as digestive issues, allergies, or even parasites. If hairballs become a persistent issue or seem to be affecting your cat’s health, it’s always a good idea to consult with your vet to rule out any underlying conditions.
At our practice, we’re always here to help keep your cat’s digestive health in check and address any concerns you may have. Schedule a consult today! Link is in our bio 🙂
